Unique Stag Do Ideas in Ireland

General

Whether you live in Ireland or not, it offers some unique ways to spend a memorable stag night or weekend (they seem to be getting longer and longer).

Game of Thrones

This hugely popular series is largely shot at locations around the north of Ireland, and there are now countless tour operators organising trips around the major film locations. If your party’s big enough, round it off a tour with a Game of Thrones-themed medieval banquet. See http://www.discovernorthernireland.com/gameofthrones/.

Irish Whiskey

If this is a passion you and your guests appreciate, then do the job properly. Why not start at the oldest licensed distillery in the world – Bushmills in County Antrim? From there it’s not too far to the Jameson’s distillery in Dublin and then on to the nearby Whiskey Museum, where you can even blend your own.

Take a Cruise

We have some of the largest lakes in the British Isles, and a chartered cruise comes with its own bar – what better way to spend the day before returning to land to hit the pubs, clubs or restaurants? You can pick up a cruise on Lough Erne near Enniskillen in Fermanagh, or on Lough Neagh – boarding at Antrim or Ballyronan. Combine the boat trip with a barbecue on one of the islands in the lake and perhaps with some jet skiing and other water sports.

Quad Biking

Despite its great countryside perfect for quad-biking, Ireland isn’t blessed with an excess of commercial ATV tracks where a stag party can hire machines and do some proper all-terrain driving. The best is in County Cork at Castlemartyr; otherwise you could be heading for the mainland. But another option is to buy your own – you’re due a wedding present anyway, aren’t you? A good first buy would be the Can Am Outlander as it has four-wheel suspension (better for both safety and competitive handling). Surfing

The British Isles don’t have too many beaches where you can trim a good swell, but Portrush is one of them. Book a two-hour party lesson with all the equipment you need thrown in and the use of the club’s hot showers and changing rooms. Stag-friendly accommodation is available nearby, as are restaurants and the essential bars to finish off your day.
