The Caribbean islands are best known for their exotic beaches, but according to the Telegraph, it is possible for some fun and adventure on and below the water too. Activities such as diving in Bonaire to paddle boarding in Tobago are just a few of the impressive things to do on these islands.

Let’s take a look at some of the more energetic activities available:

Surfing

A fun activity best done around the islands that have the rougher Atlantic East Coast facing them. You can learn to surf or simply hire the equipment, if you are already an expert.

Aruba Submarine Tour

One of the smaller Caribbean island destinations, which has plenty to offer the water enthusiast, particularly as the climate is hot and dry too. A great activity for non-swimmers to see shipwrecks, coral and tropical fish.

Dive With Sharks

A favourite activity for many visitors, which can be done in the Bahamas at Stuart Cove.

Horse Racing

Something you probably hadn’t considered, but there is a race track just outside Bridgetown in Barbados, which has been there for nearly 100 years. Take a picnic and soak up the atmosphere. Maybe even place a bet or two?

Visit Waterfalls

The Caribbean has an abundance of waterfalls, but Granada has the famous Seven Sisters Falls, reached by a trek through the rainforest. Here, you can swim in the cold water, which will no doubt refresh you ready for the walk back.

Swimming With Dolphins

A must do activity that you will never forget. Many islands offer this, but if you are staying in the Bahamas, head for the lagoons in Dolphin Cay.

Cycling

Take a tour by bike around the islands. Most of the larger islands offer bike hire, so you can reach some of the more remote parts.

Hiking

A free and easy activity – walk the rainforests and trek up the mountains.

Scuba Diving

Get PADI qualified and try some open water dives. Tobago offers some fantastic diving opportunities.

Party!

Dance till dawn on the beautiful island of Antigua, known for its exciting nightlife.
