Although 40% of Toyota Yaris sold in Europe are as with the hybrid engine, Toyota Yaris is revitalizing its range with other engines and versions. The most striking, of course, is the 210 hp version, but also come a new gasoline propeller 1.5 – liter 4 – cylinder engine to replace the current 1.3 – liter.

Goodbye to downsizing Toyota Yaris debuts a new 1.5L petrol engine in replacement of the 1.3LThis is the first time, without error, that a manufacturer reverses the downsizing trend started a few years ago because of the NEDC homologation cycle. According to Toyota, “this new engine comes in anticipation of the Euro 6c standard and the standard of homologation of emissions in real conduction – Real Driving Emission (RDE) or Emissions in real conditions of circulation”.

This new engine, which will soon equip the Toyota Yaris, is atmospheric, has a displacement of 1,496 cm3, develops 111 hp and delivers a maximum torque of 136 Nm at 4,400 rpm, although almost all of the torque (118 Nm) Is already available at only 2,000 rpm. This engine improves the performance of the Yaris 1.3 in a second in the 80 to 120 km / h, according to Toyota (although it does not clarify in which way the measurement was carried out) and in 0.8 s in the 0 to 100 km / h.

Above all, this new engine, would improve by 12% consumption compared to Yaris 1.3. And is that the thermal efficiency of this engine, 38.5%, being one of the best on the market. This is achieved thanks to a high compression ratio (13.5: 1) and the adoption of a refrigerated exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, as well as a new variable valve timing system (VVT iE) Pass from the Otto cycle to the Atkinson cycle in a fraction of a second.
