The event, which will take place in Woking Park on 9 July 2016 between 12pm and 9pm, is being held in honour of the town’s very own HG Wells. The best-selling author is famous for novels such as The Time Machine (1895) and The War of the Worlds (1898). Famous Authors classes him as the most impactful author within the sci-fi genre; as such, this family event will have an otherworldly vibe to enchant and entertain all ages.

The Time Zone

Arrive by Surrey party bus and experience time travel by going back through the ages in the Time Zone, where you can peruse displays from the Surrey History Centre and themed art exhibitions as the classical sounds from the antique bandstand create the ambiance of the world of HG Wells.

The Futuristic Field

If you prefer your music a little louder, head to the Futuristic Field where The Morrisons’ Main Stage will be brought alive by the Star Wars parody band Sci-Fi Band, which will raise the roof with classic covers from the likes of Queen and AC/DC. Local dance troupes will be entertaining the crowds with futuristic moves that are out of this world.

The Children’s Zone

For the younger audience, a dedicated Children’s Zone will be held across several activity tents. Here your little space travellers can get crafty and creative by building their own rockets, dressing up in space suits or enjoying some intergalactic stories. There will also be a funfair where they can blast off in a variety thrilling rides and attractions.

The Big Screen

This event will boast Woking’s only outdoor cinema experience via the Ambassadors Big Screen. After a day of futuristic fun, the whole family can settle down under the stars to enjoy a sci-fi blockbuster chosen by the people. For those who want the party to continue, hire a Surrey Party Bus to take you home.

The event is free and is open to all ages, so come and celebrate the life and works of one of the greatest sci-fi authors in spectacular, galactic style.
